The Question Of Monarchy in Malaysia.

Been a while right. I’ve already forgotten the fact that I even had a blog. So, I’m not going to drool on it, but let’s get straight to the point shall we. Alright, the question of, can we thrive without sultans and rajas, have been going on for quite some times. Oddly enough, this question was posed by our so called “Malay Defender” dictator-cum-prime minister, Dr. Mahathir. He questioned the authority of the sultans in a scathing 95 points speech to parliament on January 18th 1993, in which he pointed out the flaws of the immunity of kings in the Malaysian constitution. He also compared the immunity laws to that of other constitutional monarchs across the world, even reaching as far back as the Governor General of India.

He criticised our constitution and was backed by the papers, even praised by some, eventhough that meant the end of any virtual role the king had in governing the nation. In it, he also proposed that kings shall only receive immunity while on official duties, making it on-par with almost every other monarch in the world. He even went to as questioned the sultans integrity especially during the forming of the Malayan Union when the sultans simply signed a paper, effectively handing us all to the British, while they got hefty monthly paycheques, and the people were the ones fighting against it, though he did say that he did not want to abolish the monarchs.

He even had time to comment on the hot topic of the day, which was the implementation of the Hudud Law, which he argues that Malaysia still cannot implement it because there are only 56% muslims in this nation, and we have to consider the environment and everything to implement it. Which basically means, he did not see Hudud as relevant at the time, eventhough this statement is considered blasphemy in many circles of Islam, he has not yet retracted it, as of time of publishing.

Overall, he stressed the importance of law, the implementation of it on every walks of life including the sultans, which at that time were quite renegade in their actions. For me this was really good, keeping check on the sultans, who are, at times quite rude and inconsiderate towards their subjects, eventhough their paycheques came from us, the taxpayers. So, the amendments was, for me, timely, well composed, and a big stepping point towards a Malaysia, free of the shackles of monarchy, which for me, is very burdening to us, normal Malaysians. Though I can’t really agree with his point about the implementation of Hudud, but, anyhow, it’s still good. Till this day, this single bit, is the only thing I thank that old man for, only this. Nothing else that he did is worthy of any amount of gratitude. Thank you.

Aermmm

Once more, here i am. Back in Selayang. It is the start of my first ever semester break. I just finished my first semester, on of about 15 i believe. Still a long way to go, but satisfied nonetheless. Looking back at how things have unfolded in the last few months, it's been quite a ride. More like a roller coaster ride. There were highs, and of course there were lows. Now, i'm here, all bruised and battered, but unafazed. can't wait to hopefully get my license problem done by this month, since my holiday ends by this month. So, nothing more, i think, so, bye.

Journey So Far.

alright, i don't know if you lot, know or not, my whereabouts, since the last few months, well, let me update your thinking caps. right, first things, first. right now, i'm currently furthering my studies at a certain university called, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, or more commonly known as Uniten. it's at Muadzam Shah, Pahang, for the wondering souls out there. it's about 240 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur, not quite far, but the bus ride's quite tiresome. about 4-5 hours, depending on the traffic. currently i'm studying accountancy. i'm taking foundation for a year, then four years degree here, or maybe somewhere else, i don't care much really, still have to study hard, aight ? anyone who's ever been close to me for the last few years, must, right now, be scratching their heads, because a lot of them know, how i really despised numbers, except mathematics. but i don't know why, since the turn of the year, i began a passion for accounts. maybe it's because of the money or something else, but i really grew very fond of it. currently in my first trimester here, and will be finishing the semester in about 6-7 weeks time. overall, i think, i really like studying in university, because it's not as tiresome as in school, and you only take a few subjects every semester, rather than taking 10 subjects, and studying like a pig in school, killing your brain. here it's more condusive, the lecturers really help you, like, REALLY help you, which is very helpful, since accountings is very hard. overall, life is good right now, but there's one thing that i really miss, which is my school. really miss seeing my friends, really miss hanif, amri, yusuf, mukhlis, liyana and a hell lot more that, if i mentioned here, would fill a whole book. really miss my juniors, especially in BSMM, like amin, apan, ameera, and a hell lot more that i don't really remember their names, but will say hi to them if we were to ever meet at NSK or anywhere for that matter. so, overall, really miss my former life, really miss everything. but then again, life's good here. cheers.

new life.

hi, not much to write about tonight, just that, starting from tomorrow, i will begin life as a university student, something very much different than what i'm familiar with. tomorrow is like a journey to the unknown for me, like a last frontier, something very new to me. for your information, tomorrow i'll be reporting at UNITEN, Muadzam Shah, which is about 3-4 hours drive from Selayang. quite a trip, eh ? but i don't care about it much though, what i'm looking forward to is, to study as hard as i can, get that piece of paper, and conquer the world. hopefully, five years from now, i'll be smiling to my ears, with that piece of paper called a degree, driving confidently past my old school, still smiling, entering my humble house, like a boxer, after a 18 rounds of intense fighting, holding my hands up high, and shouting a vague, yes. after university, here comes, the world. but until then, STUDY. wish me luck for the years ahead, and hopefully, we all can reach our dreams, no matter how outrageous it may seem to be. to my boo, hope you can cope with me being away for some time, but don't worry, we'll still be like normal, just that, i will not be staying at Selayang. love you honey ! bye selayang. till we meet again.

update :

right, been quite sometime since i last visited this place, and frankly, it feels quite different now. it looks a bit, i don't know, just, different. maybe it's just because blogger.com changed a lot, or is it that i'm now, is quite different than what i was a few months back. i don't know, maybe the former, or the latter, or maybe even a bit of both. who knows right ? who cares right ? well, those mumblings are not really why i'm clearing off the dust of this blog. the true reason is to just keep you guys (if there is any), updated about me, myself, i, my life, my family, my environment, and of course, my better-half (yup, she's human). umm, first things first, i traded my green slacks and white school shirt, for some old-fashioned, dark slacks, and work shirts, and yup, i am now working, somewhere, not far from here, which, for some reasons, i'm not telling where it is. i am now, a bit chubbier than i was a few months back, and i don't really know why. food maybe. ummm, interesting. not much significant changes to my family happened in the near past, so, nothing worth noting about that. well, my environment now, is full of sounds of printers printing, staplers stapling, papers doing what papers do, pens doing whatever it does, and , well, you know what i mean right ? workkkk/. lastly, better-half (for those who don't know it, "better-half" means someone special, or something around that frame of words). well, i can't tell you lot much about her, but i can tell you that, she's still a school student, between the age of 15-17, and she's like the best thing that's ever happened to me really. right now, i just feel really happy about life (well, there's still a bit political mumbling left in me). my only hope right now is that, we could be together for, well, hopefully, forever. who knows right ? maybe we could be married in 7-8 years time, and be having little tiny feets running around, or break-up in the next few months (which i hope will never happen) and finding some other people, who knows. what can i say, the future, you're guess is as good as mine, mate.
